A Fusion of History and Creativity: Inside Zappp's Unique Limassol Office

In the heart of Limassol’s historic centre, a truly remarkable space has emerged: the Zappp office. Nestled within the early 20th-century Hellas House on St. Andrew Street, next to the medieval castle, this building is a treasure trove of history and art. Thanks to a meticulous restoration by Kinnis, Hellas House once again stands proud as one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. This project, however, goes beyond restoration—it is a symphony of historical architecture and the owner’s creative ambition.

A Vision of Work and Art

The brief was ambitious: to craft a space that serves not only as a workplace but also as a gallery for an extensive collection of guitars, paintings, and artwork. The result? A series of rooms that are both evocative and functional, brimming with personality yet balanced in their design.

The building’s historical integrity was a priority. Original walls, floors, ceilings, and mouldings were preserved, with updates limited to colour schemes, lighting, furniture, and decor. The transformation enhances the building’s character while providing a vibrant, creative atmosphere.

The Grand Entrance

The journey begins with an antique staircase leading to a spacious hallway, where vaulted arches and stained-glass windows set a dramatic tone. Elegant doors and metlach tiles add to the timeless charm. This space is brought to life with bold terracotta armchairs from Tom Dixon and a sleek bench from Imperium Loft, making a statement while respecting the historic architecture.

The Study: A Sophisticated Sanctuary

In the owner’s study, deep burgundy hues create an atmosphere of luxury. Black velvet curtains frame the space, complemented by a Baxter leather desk with a stone top—a testament to understated elegance. A custom-made library adds individuality, while the centrepiece, a striking canvas titled Shadow Man from the owner’s collection, breathes life into the room.

The Guitar Gallery: A Melodic Heart

Arguably the office's pièce de résistance, the guitar gallery is a haven for music enthusiasts. Olive walls provide a rich backdrop for an illuminated oak display housing 18 guitars. Iconic furniture pieces like the UP5 armchair by Gaetano Pesce and a leather sofa by KARE create a cosy yet rock-inspired vibe. Diesel bar stools and a DePadova shelving unit complete this dynamic space.

The Meeting Room: A Pop Art Playground

The meeting room explodes with colour and creativity, embodying a pop art style. A turquoise backdrop and vibrant furniture, including a yellow Roche Bobois sofa and a CARUSO dresser with an orange speaker, create a lively setting. The bold Chicken painting from the owner’s collection and KARE’s Sun lamp tie the room together with playful energy.

Terraces, Studios, and Immersive Sound

Walking through a graphic hallway featuring a Copenhagen bench and a cowhide rug leads to an outdoor terrace, an oasis in the city. An antique staircase takes visitors to the first-floor music studio, equipped with soundproof panels, a large oak table, and a leather sofa—perfect for creative flow.

Nearby, the audiophile room is a shrine to music. Symmetrically arranged KARE sofas and a wall collage of rock band clippings create an immersive atmosphere, blending nostalgia and modernity.

The Kitchen and Washrooms: Bold and Playful

In the kitchen, bold black and red colours dominate. A Masiero chandelier and Smeg fridge provide striking focal points, while Fornasetti plates and transparent Kartell Ghost chairs add whimsy and lightness.

Even the washrooms are artistic masterpieces, inspired by Keith Haring’s murals. Street artist Eldar adorned the walls with dynamic patterns, while the sink area’s rich blue hues and playful KARE bird sconces add a rhythmic charm.

A Harmonious Blend of Past and Present

The Zappp office is more than a workspace; it’s a celebration of art, individuality, and historical architecture. Every room tells a story, blending the charm of Limassol’s past with modern creativity. For its owner, it’s not just an office—it’s a sanctuary of inspiration, a gallery of passions, and a space where history and creativity collide.

Hellas House is once again alive with purpose, and Zappp’s vision ensures it remains a landmark not only of Limassol’s heritage but of its future.
